Emerging batter Ashleigh Gardner was named the Lord’s Taverners Indigenous Player of the Year in early 2015, becoming the first women to win this award. Gardner headed all comers to top the runs tally at Cricket Australia’s Under-18 Championships in January 2015 with 199 runs to lead New South Wales to the title and claim Player of the Championships. To add to her growing list of titles, she also won Player of the Tournament at Imparja Cup 2015. She subsequently traveled to Dubai with the Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars to take on England Academy. Gardner made her T20I debut for Australia in February 2017 against New Zealand, with her ODI debut following soon after. Gardner has made the move to South Australia for the 2017-18 season to join an exciting Scorpions squad. In 2018, Gardner was an integral part of the Australian Women's cricket team, which went all the way to win a fourth ICC World T20 championship.
