Ben Cutting to Alex Hales. Yorker, wide outside off stump on the front foot driving, to deep point for 1 run, fielded by Renshaw. Brisbane Heat have won a rain affected match against Sydney Thunder thanks to a Tom Banton blitz. The young English opener smashed the second fastest BBL half century as the Heat amassed an astounding 119 from just 8 overs. It was always going to be tough for the hosts in response and they weren't helped by further rain shortening their chase. They gave it a decent go to try and give the patient crowd something to cheer but fell short of the DLS target in the end.

OUT! Caught. Jack Prestwidge to Daniel Sams. Off cutter length ball, outside off stump Deep in crease Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Laughlin. Wonderful catch, it was in the air for a lifetime and Laughlin kept his cool. That might be the final nail in the coffin for the hosts.

SIX! Jack Prestwidge to Daniel Sams. Length ball, outside off stump Deep in crease Slog, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. Sams still believes he can pull this off, a few more hits like this and you never know.

OUT! Bowled. Jack Prestwidge to Chris Morris. Slower length ball, off stump backing away Slog, missed to. Timber, Prestwidge holds his nerve against the big South African. The change of pace does the trick.

FOUR! Ben Laughlin to Alex Hales. Short, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, top edge in the air uncontrolled past fine leg for 4 runs. Hales swings hard and gets a slice of luck. If he gets a couple out of the middle the Heat might get nervous.

OUT! Caught. Ben Laughlin to Callum Ferguson. Length ball, outside off stump Deep in crease Slog, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Swepson. Ferguson gets under this but he's picked the longest boundary on the field and Swepson has time to position himself well. The fans thought that was six when he hit it.

FOUR! Ben Laughlin to Callum Ferguson. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot glancing, past fine leg for 4 runs. Tickled fine, Ferguson used the pace expertly. The rain is back and it is quite heavy. The umpires have a little chat and decide to call on the covers. We don't have much time to play with so hopefully this blows through soon. We're ready to start again any minute now. We've lost three overs, Thunder will need another 55 runs from 17 balls. A tough ask.

OUT! Bowled. Zahir Khan to Usman Khawaja. Googly length ball, outside off stump on the front foot sweeping, missed to. Big wicket, Zahir gets his wrong'un to skid through underneath Khawaja's horizontal blade and cannon into the stumps. Already the required run rate is rising quickly, Thunder in trouble.

SIX! Josh Lalor to Usman Khawaja. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Khawaja isn't really known for his power hitting but he's clearly more than capable based on this stroke. Off the mark in brutal fashion.
